US health authorities on Tuesday welcomed news that the spread of swine flu has slowed in the past month, saying it gave people plenty of time to ensure they are vaccinated.

Tanzanian authorities try to close a diamond mine because of swine flu, but the miners refuse to leave.
All the players from French rugby club Brive have been quarantined over swine flu fears. The club said Tuesday that several members of the team are likely to have contracted the virus and have undergone medical tests. Results will be available by the end of the week. Brive added that the French rugby league will have to decide whether or not to postpone Saturday's game against Toulouse.
